MPACT Memphis Board of Directors

MPACT Memphis is currently seeking new members for its Board of Directors who share our passion for Memphis, and a keen desire to help other young professional get connected to each other and our city. The MPACT Memphis Board of Directors consists of 16 Voting Members (9 At-Large; 6 Officers; and 1 Immediate Past-Chair). At-Large Members will serve staggered two year terms and Officers will serve two year terms. Both the Chair and Chair-Elect of the Board will serve one year in each position.

Potential Board Members must possess the following qualifications:

  1. A desire to connect other young professionals to each other and their community
  2. Membership in MPACT Memphis
  3. Willingness to prepare for and attend Board and committee meetings
  4. An ability to listen, analyze, think clearly and creatively, and work well individually and in a group
  5. Willingness to help cultivate and solicit funds for the organization
  6. Ability to recruit and manage volunteers for program execution

Board Member duties:

  1. Be actively engaged in fundraising efforts of the organization
  2. Oversee finances and administration of the organization
  3. Attend 12 Board meetings annually (Two unexcused absences is cause for automatic removal from the Board) as well as appropriate committee meetings and special functions
  4. Serve on a minimum of two programming committees
  5. Raise at least $500 in donor funds per year (including ticket sales for Soul of the City Gala)
  6. Personally contribute at least $200 (excluding membership dues)
  7. Recruit at least three potential members each month
  8. Serve as the face of MPACT Memphis by being informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs
  9. Remain up-to-date and engaged in organizational and Board activities
  10. Assist the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization’s annual report and financial statements

Girl Scouts Board Development Committee

Dance Works

Dance Works is dedicated to provide an affordable, accredited, quality dance education to all children in Memphis, as well as to provide community performances, accessible to all children and families. Dance Works’ strives for community performances to increase the public’s appreciation for dance and the performing arts. Dance Works provides training in several forms of dance, but fundamental training is focused on an accredited classical ballet program. Dance Works is unique in it’s ability to offer an accredited dance education. Dance Works is committed to the development of the child’s character, intellect and physical well being. In addition, Dance Works’ provides economic assistance for children from disadvantaged families.

General Board member description:

  1. Accept the principles, beliefs, and purpose of Dance Works
  2. Understanding cultural, social, and economic trends and their effect on Dance Works and its activities
  3. Have the ability to weigh facts and issues for decision making
  4. Be available to attend meetings
  5. Understand and respect the difference between policy and operations
  6. Be a senior or junior executive
