MPACT Success Stories

"I love MPACT events because you never know who you are going to meet, whether it be your next big client or your new running partner.  We went to the Redbirds game last week for MPACT night and had a blast.  Our group was easily identifiable to those looking for other MPACT members because we were given special wristbands for the event.  We ended up meeting a couple new to Memphis who spotted our cool wristbands and hung out with them all night!"
Ashley Fairey, Business Development Officer, Paragon National Bank

When I first joined MPACT MEMPHIS, I was impressed. I have met some of the most genuine people there are.  I love this organization for its diversity, and how it impacts the young professionals in Memphis in an excellent way. I never knew that I would help be part of painting a house for someone in need and networking with the brightest people, but I have! MPACT MEMPHIS has closed down many stereotypes of what people believe the city was and made it what it is- an emerging community shooting for excellence and action.  I consider myself honored to be a member of MPACT MEMPHIS.
Jamia L. Williams, MPACT Member, 2008

"It was really great to be surrounded by socially aware young adults who are passionate about helping make positive, long term changes to Memphis communities. I thought it was great that I (the Brooks) was able to tell everyone a little bit about the things we do at the museum – not just parties and openings, but volunteer opportunities, working with the school districts of Memphis and our dynamic public programming. The MPACT group was very gracious and was genuinely interested in how they could participate. I thought it was great to see how involved you were with the members of MPACT – it was obvious that you have more than just surface relationships with your members and it was clear that they enjoyed being there, so I can only assume that your other events are equally as successful. Again, it was my pleasure to be invited and hope there is an opportunity that I can come back again!"
Kiley Robinette, Development Associate, BROOKS Museum

"I joined MPACT Memphis two months ago out of a desire to expand my horizons. I knew that there was so much more of Memphis for me to see, information for me to gather, and acquaintances for me to make. In the short time that I have been a member, I’ve been involved more in my city than I have been in my adult life! I’ve enjoyed trying restaurants I’d never thought about trying, learned more about what my civic duty could be by going to conferences, found out about a vast array of other volunteer opportunities, as well as laughed and joked with my fellow members. I would highly recommend this organization for any person with a desire to “think outside the box”, and an intellectual hunger to be a part of something bigger than themselves. MPACT Memphis is a “one stop shop!” "

"I wish more cities had active, engaged groups like MPACT. MPACT serves as not only a voice for young professionals, but as a catalyst for city growth."
Elise Tinsley, Program Officer, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street Center

“Whether one is new to Memphis or has spent their life here, few organizations have a membership that appeals to and includes a real cross-section of individuals. Joining MPACT gives you information and access to the vast opportunities, assets and experiences in Memphis, and it presents opportunities to meet and collaborate with others. Some of my closest friends and colleagues are individuals I first met and got to know through MPACT Memphis.”
Jennifer Turner Koltnow; Executive Director, Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation

“For me, MPACT was a foundational experience for my engagement in Memphis. From being a complete outsider to having the opportunity to exercise community leadership in one short year was unbelievable. The organization was filled with the highest-quality people in the community, diverse, passionate and focused on making Memphis a better place.”

"Returning home to Memphis after college, my friends were mostly from the same circles I had known since elementary school. I didn't know where to find other like-minded, ambitious young people looking to make a difference in Memphis…that is, until I got involved with MPACT. Through MPACT, I have made many close friends and strengthened my confidence in Memphis's future. MPACT and the people I have met through it have also provided an outlet for my passion to move Memphis forward and help others become knowledgeable and engaged in the city’s civic affairs.
Frank Langston; Manager of Strategic Development, Mr. Pride Car Wash

“MPACT is special because it creates a forum for young professionals to interact and to get involved with low barriers of entry. MPACT can help new Memphians find their niche within the community, encouraging them to stay in Memphis for life and invest in our community. Furthermore, MPACT can help to raise community morale, promote the most favorable image of our city, and help to keep new individuals and the companies they work for happy and involved in the Memphis community.”
Lawson Arney; Financial Advisor, Morgan Keegan & Co

“I moved from Memphis to Southern California in 2004 for my graduate studies. Because of all of the amazing friends and connections I made while in Memphis and through MPACT, I made the choice to move back to Memphis in 2006.Coming back has been a great experience. MPACT has allowed me to jump right in where I left off!”
Angela Copeland; Director of Internet Marketing, ServiceMaster

“Every successful city has an engaged young professional community.  MPACT provides the tools to get folks involved in the non-profit, civic and political sectors of Memphis. It provides a forum for young professionals to connect to the communities in which they live and work.  For many, it's a great resource in finding non-profit organizations to become involved with.  For others, it connects them to the political community. I've met lots of great contacts, both personal and professional.”
Brad Carmony; Director of Brand Communications, Homewood Suites by Hilton

“MPACT was a strong factor in making my decision to stay in Memphis. Since joining in 2003, I have become knowledgeable about the city’s assets and challenges and have become engaged in the city in ways I could never have been without it. I have been empowered to work with mentors and peers toward positive change. I have made numerous friends and community contacts from whom I am constantly learning as we work together to make a difference.”
